JDPC, IBADAN FACILITATES THE RELEASE OF AN INMATES AFTER 7 YEARS DURING THE WORKING VISIT OF MISEREOR TO THE ORGANISATION

The Head, Dialogue and Partnership Service of MISEREOR, Germany Ms. Krojer Julia lauds the efforts and commitments of the members of staff at Justice Development and Peace Commission, Ibadan in discharging their duties and playing their roles in the development of the society and impacting positively the lives of their beneficiaries.  This was revealed during her working visit to the Organization.

Ms Krojer who assumed office in August, 2022 saw the need to meet with the “new” Director of JDPC, Ibadan, Rev. Fr. Jerome Ajakaiye who also resumed at JDPC, Ibadan in January, 2022 and to identify with the faces behind the projects, while underscoring the progress of various projects being supported by MISEREOR. She also sought to know if there are gaps and other needs that should be addressed by the donor through the provision of funds.

While receiving Ms. Julia, Rev.Fr. Jerome Ajakaiye appreciated the donor agency for their consistent support at JDPC, Ibadan and the role they are playing to ensure that the various programs at the organization are running smoothly. He, therefore, promised that the organization will relent in carrying out its objectives.  

Having met with the various programs and program teams, Ms Krojer also had a robust interaction with some of our beneficiaries; Members of the Civil Coalition of Good Governance (CCGG), Community development Council (CDC), People with Disabilities (PWDs) and Paralegals who are trained to carry out Alternative Dispute Resolutions in their communities.

The beneficiaries spoke highly of the work done at JDPC, Ibadan and how their various capacities have been enhanced to see to the development of their communities and to better the lot of the people. Some of them also used the opportunity to share their success stories and the progress made thus far.

Ms Krojer also paid a courtesy visit to the Legal holder of JDPC Ibadan and Bishop Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, Most Rev. (Dr) Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin who also expressed his gratitude to  MISEREOR  for their support and promised that JDPC, Ibadan  will continue to impact lives of people without ethnic or religious bias

Coincidentally, during the visit of Ms krojer to JDPC, Ibadan, one of the legal aid officer Barrister Fola Awoyemi secured the release of ex-inmates who was alleged of Armed Robbery and was in custody without facing trial for 7 years. After the release was granted, JDPC, Ibadan also facilitated his return back to his family.
